ITA Honors Women’s Tennis as All-Academic Team; Five Named Scholar Athletes

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team was honored for the 14th straight season and 21st time in the last 22 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, five players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

Junior Danna Taylor and sophomore Crystal Zhou competed in the opening rounds of the 2023 NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Championships on Friday, May 19 in Orlando, Florida, at the USTA National Campus. The pair won their Round of 16 match and will continue play on Saturday.
Tartans Place Nine on Tennis and Softball Academic All-District Teams

Nine Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes were named to a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for Division III, nominated by members of CSC, for the tennis and softball seasons. College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) rebranded to CSC in the summer of 2022.
#14 Tartans Fall in NCAA Quarterfinals to #1 Chicago

The 14th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis team faced No. 1 University of Chicago in the quarterfinals of the 2023 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship on Sunday, May 14 in Orlando, Florida, at the USTA National Campus. The Tartans earned a point during doubles play but fell 5-1 in the match to the Maroons who finished as runner-up at last year’s championship.

Junior Danna Taylor along with sophomores Sarah Yang and Crystal Zhou have been selected to play for the NCAA Division III Women's Individual Championships to be held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, May 19-22. The championships are being hosted by the United States Tennis Association, Oglethorpe University and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.

The 14th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis team is headed to the quarterfinals of the 2023 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship for the seventh time in school history and first time since 2019 after a 5-2 victory against 32nd-ranked Kenyon College in the third round on Saturday, May 6.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis team, ranked 14th, hosted North Central College in the second round of the 2023 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship on Friday, May 5. The Tartans topped the Cardinals by a 5-0 score to advance to their sixth straight NCAA Championship third-round match.

No. 14 Women’s Tennis Selected to Host NCAA Opening Rounds

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team has been selected to compete for the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship and will have the honor of hosting the first, second, and third rounds of competition. The appearance in the postseason event will be the 17th for the program, all coming under head coach Andrew Girard. The Tartans will host action on Thursday, May 4 through Saturday, May 6 with five teams traveling to Pittsburgh.

The 14th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team played 13th-ranked Case Western Reserve University in the fifth-place match of the University Athletic Association (UAA) on Saturday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Tartans topped the Spartans 5-1 and are now 19-5 on the season while the Spartans move to 14-5.

The 14th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team played 31st-ranked Brandeis University in the consolation semifinal of the University Athletic Association (UAA) on Friday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Tartans defeated the Judges 5-1 and are now 18-5 on the season while Brandeis moves to 9-10.
#14 Tartans Open Play at UAA Championship With a 5-3 Setback to #17 WashU

The 14th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team opened University Athletic Association (UAA) play on Thursday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida, with a 5-3 setback to 17th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis. The Tartans moved to 17-6 overall while the Bears are now 3-6.
