Mary Wilson joined the women's tennis team for her first season as an assistant coach in 2016-17. Wilson is a Pittsburgh native who excelled on the tennis court for four years at Division I Quinnipiac University where she graduated with a degree in political science in 2010.

Wilson's presence on the sidelines for the women's tennis team helped the Tartans return to the NCAA tournament the past three years, advancing to the quarterfinals in 2019. "Mary's high-level college playing experience and overall knowledge of the game has certainly been instrumental for our program," said head coach Andrew Girard. "She’s an extremely competitive person who brings out the best in our players and we're very fortunate to have her on the staff."

As a collegiate player, Wilson competed at the No. 1 singles and doubles position for three seasons. Along the way she was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Year in 2008 and earned seven All-Conference honors. As a freshman, she won the flight two tile at the Eastern Collegiate hosted by Army, defeating players from Seton Hall University, the University of Pittsburgh, Brown University and Army. She helped the Bobcats qualify for the NCAA tournament in 2007 and 2008 by earning match point both years in the conference championship match against Long Island University.

Wilson won more than 100 college matches and ranks top 10 in Quinnipiac history for total wins.

An ethics and compliance specialist at the Software Engineering Institute, Wilson has also been an assistant professional at multiple Pittsburgh area clubs. She worked with the University of Pittsburgh club tennis team, the Fox Chapel Golf Club, and at Rolling Rock Club. Wilson still enjoys competition and was the 2013 Bob O'Connor tournament champion and the 2014, 2016, and 2017 Frick Park Red Clay tournament champion.
