Tartans Top-Ten Finishes Add Up in Post Season

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team began their post season at the ninth annual Gator Invitational at Allegheny College looking to improve upon their marks set during the regular season.

Junior Sasha Spalding (Springhill, Fla./Springstead) continued to perform well in both the long jump and the shot put.  With a leap of 5.02 meters she finished in eighth place in the long jump.  She also finished ninth in the shot with a mark of 10.95 meters, just missing her season-best mark. 

In the 400-meter hurdles, senior Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) finished in third-place when she crossed the finish line with a time of 1:04.32.

Sophomore Elizabeth Snyder (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset) grabbed a second-place finish for the Tartans when she finished the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:53.61.

Senior Catherine Paquette (Bethel, Ohio/Archbishop McNicholas) closed out the evening for the Tartans in the 5,000-meter run.  With a time of 19:08.39, Paquette finished in seventh place.

The Tartans will be travelling to Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio on Monday, May 12 for another post-season meet in hopes for nationally qualifying marks.
