Two Seniors Set Career-Best Times at 11th Annual Gator Invitational

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the 11th Annual Gator Invitational host by Allegheny College on Friday, May 13.  Seniors Liz Snyder (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) and Erin Persson (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) both set career-best times on Friday.

Snyder set a career-best time in the 5,000-meter run crossing in 17:51.53 to win the event while Persson placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:57.90.

In field events, freshman Autumn Hair (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 10.28 meters.  Hair also competed in the long jump and jumped 4.75 meters to place eighth.  Classmate Debarati Bhanja (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.00 meters.

Junior Rebecca Fortner (Navarre, Ohio/Fairless) and junior Emily Swanson (Atkinson, N.H./Timberlane Regional) placed sixth and eighth in the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.53 meters and 1.45 meters, respectively.
