Tartans Compete at 13th Annual Gator Invitational

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the 13th Annual Gator Invitational host by Allegheny College on Friday. Junior Autumn Hair (Blue Bell, Pa. / Wissahickon) placed in the top six in three events while senior Sarah Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Hampton) took second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.26 and junior Alexa Barriero (Middletown, N.J. / Middletown North) placed second in the javelin with a mark of 35.23 meters.

Hair took third in the long jump with a mark of 4.71 meters before placing fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.32 meters. Sophomore Leah Kendrick (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks East) and Hair placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles with times of 15.61 and 16.60. Sophomore Joanna Baranowski (Syosset, N.Y. / Syosset) then took sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.27.

Senior Sarah Miholer (Stow, Ohio / Walsh Jesuit) placed third in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 3.17 meters. Baranowski cleared 3.02 meters to finish fourth.

Senior Kiersten Chuc (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) tossed the hammer 45.34 meters and the discus 35.04 meters to place fourth and seventh on Friday.
