Karabin Ties School Record in Pole Vault at OWU Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet

(DELAWARE, Ohio) - Sophomore Michelle Karabin (Ruffs Dale, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) of Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field tied the school record in the pole vault at the Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Thursday.

Karabin cleared the bar at 3.77 meters to win the pole vault. Her height tied Grace Yee's height which was set last season. Senior Sarah Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Hampton) also competed on Thursday and ran to a top finish in the 800-meter run. Her time of 2:11.87 was a personal-best.

The top 22 athletes in each event qualify for the NCAA Championships. The last day to compete prior to NCAA invites is Friday, May 18. Cook currently ranks 12th in the 800-meter while Karabin ranks 13th in the pole vault.
