Allen Records PR in High Jump as Women’s Track and Field Compete at Ohio State and Mount Union

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed both at the Ohio State University Indoor Collegiate Meet in Columbus, Ohio and the Mount Union Raider Tune-Up in Alliance, Ohio. The Tartans competed against competitive fields at both meets and many scored college and season best performances.

At the Ohio State Collegiate Meet, senior Tessa Allen (Manhattan Beach, Calif. / Bishop Montgomery) scored a collegiate personal record in the high jump, clearing 1.63 meters and placing fourth overall. Senior Debarati Bhanja (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany) improved upon her second in all time program history performance in the 200 meters with a time of 26.54. Bhanja also competed in the 60-meter dash and finished in 8.13. Junior Leah Kendrick (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks East) finished with a time of 27.93 in the 200 meters.

Senior Rose Ciriello (Madison N.J. / Madison) had a season best-time in the 800 meters crossing the finish in 2:18. Junior Kate Reilly (Scranton, Pa. / Scranton Prep) also ran to a season-best time in the mile with a time of 5:13.

On Saturday at the Mount Union Raider Tune-Up, junior Michelle Karabin (Ruffs Dale, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) placed fourth in the pole vault clearing 3.34 meters. Junior Autumn Hair (Blue Bell, Pa. / Wissahickon) also placed fourth, with a jump of 4.90 meters in the long jump. Freshman Sami Johnson (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Thousand Oaks) placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.31 meters.

Senior Alli Scibisz (Hampton, N.H. / Winnacunnet) ran to a sixth place finish in the 3,000 meters in a time of 11:16. In the 400-meter dash, freshman Diva-Oriane Marty (Tokyo, Japan / American School of Japan) finished sixth in a time of 1:06 while junior Keegan Barone (Chicago, Ill. / Latin School of Chicago) placed seventh just a second behind in 1:07. Junior Valerie Collins placed fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.

Sophomore Valerie Reiling (Concord, Mass. / Concord Carslile Regional) placed seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.76. A 4x400 meter relay team of junior Joanna Baranowski (Syosset, N.Y. / Syosset), Marty, Sophomore Madeline Evans (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills) and Reiling placed fourth in 4:22.

Next Saturday February 23, the Tartans will travel to the UAA Championships hosted by Brandeis University in Boston, Mass.
