Women’s Track Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) - The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2019 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list for the 23rd consecutive year. A total of 113 men's teams and 184 women's teams earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better for the 2018-19 academic year.

The women's track and field team achieved a team GPA of 3.52 for the 2018-2019 school year.

In addition to the team earning the award, six individuals were honored:
Senior Tessa Allen (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Bishop Montgomery)
Senior Debarati Bhanja (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany)
Senior Rose Ciriello (Madison, N.J./Madison)
Junior Michelle Karabin (Ruffs Dale, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic)
Junior Leah Kendrick (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East)
Junior Abigail Levine (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda Chevy Chase)

All six individuals qualified for the award by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better with either competing at the NCAA Championships or finishing the regular season ranked in the national top 50 in an individual event or top 35 in a relay event.

Karabin earned All-Academic recognition from USTFCCCA for the second time.
