Giordani Garners UAA Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Freshman Samantha Giordani (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ambridge) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for running events following her performance at the Noke Elite meet hosted by Roanoke College this past Saturday.

Giordani paced the Tartans to a second place team finish at the seven-team event. The freshman won the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash with times of 25.77 and 1:00.17, respectively. She was also part of the winning 4x400-meter relay team that crossed with a time of 4:12.36. Her top time in the 200-meter dash this season currently is first in the UAA and 10th nationally.

The Tartans will compete next at Baldwin-Wallace College on Friday, February 14th.
