Tartans Head North for Thursday Afternoon Meet at SRU

(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the Slippery Rock University Invitational Thursday.

Sophomore Liz Barre (Ithaca, N.Y. / Taft), competing in her first meet of the season, ran to a top finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.81. Graduate student Joanna Baranowski (Syosset, N.Y. / Syosset) placed fifth in the event crossing in 16.73, before winning the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.22. Sophomore Carmen Andrade (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico / Ramey) won her heat in the 400 hurdles and finished fourth in 1:12.32,

Sophomore Zaria Johnson (Cleveland, Ohio / Hawken School) turned in a person-best time in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.29 to place third. Freshman Krishni Jumani (Mumbai, Maharashtra / Dhirubhai Ambani International) also ran in the 100-meter dash and finished fifth in 13.61. Johnson then placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 27.99 while Barre crossed in 28.00 to place sixth.

Senior Ally Tully (Chappaqua, N.Y. / Horace Greeley) took fourth in the hammer with a toss of 40.30 meters. The senior then threw the shot put 10.25 meters to place seventh. Junior Agnes Zhou (Fremont, Calif. / Mission San Jose) had a mark of 22.99 meters in the javelin.

Freshman JoJo Huczko (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) matched her career-best mark in the pole vault when she cleared the bar at 3.38 meters to place second while junior Visakha Ho (Rolla, Mo. / Rolla) cleared the bar at 2.93 meters and placed seventh.

The Tartans will next compete at the at St. Francis (Pa.) University Red Flash Invitational on Saturday, April 24.
