Tartans Win Six Events at Raider Tune-Up

(ALLIANCE, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the unscored Raider Tune-Up on Saturday, hosted by the University of Mount Union. The Tartans claimed six top spots on the day.

Freshman Katie Monahan (Cranberry Twp., Pa. / Seneca Valley) recorded a season-best throw in the shot of 11.62 meters to win the event. Classmate Jocelyn Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) won the triple jump with a leap of 10.48 meters.

On the track, senior Kristen Seballos (Cleveland, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) recorded a top finish in the mile run with a career-best time of 5:13.38. The 800-meter run saw junior Kavya Tummalapalli (Plainsboro, N.J. / West Windsor-Plainsboro High School) cross first in 2:24.58 while junior Carmen Andrade (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico / Ramey) won the 400-meter run in 1:04.10.

Freshman Cora Marcet (Naperville, Ill. / Naperville Central) ran the 3,000-meter run for the first time in her collegiate career and won the event with a time of 11:05.85.

The Tartans will compete next at the UAA Championships hosted by Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, February 26.
