Barre Sets High Jump Record at Dave Labor Invitational

(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University on Saturday. The Tartans turned in numerous top performances against a field of Division I, II and III athletes.

Junior Liz Barre (Ithaca, N.Y. / Taft) topped her school record in the high jump from a week ago of 1.63 meters when she placed second clearing the bar at 1.68 meters Saturday. The junior also placed second in the 100-meter hurdles after crossing in a career-best time of 15.27.

Senior Taylor Jacobs (Bozeman, Mont./ The Taft School) crossed in 2:19.17 to win the 800-meter run. The 400-meter run saw sophomore Isabella Rhee (Midland, Mich. / H.H. Dow) post a time of 59.55 to place third.

Junior Samantha Giordani (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ambridge) turned in a pair of second-place showings. The first came in the 100-meter dash as she crossed in 12.44 and then later finished in 25.29 in the 200-meter dash.

In the field events, graduate student Kendra Noneman (Eagle, Idaho / Eagle) won the hammer throw with a toss of 55.45 meters.

The Tartans will next compete at the Westminster Invitational Saturday, April 9.
