Giordani Sets Two School Records and Cornwall One at Carnegie Mellon Last Chance Meet

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team hosted a Last Chance Meet on Thursday. The field was comprised of Chatham University, Pont Park University, Duquesne University, Robert Morris University and University of Pittsburgh.

Junior Samantha Giordani (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ambridge) won the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash with school record times in both. The junior, who owned both records previously set last season, crossed the line in the 100-meter with a time of 12.15, topping her time of 12.23. Later, Giordani crossed the line in 25.03 in the 200-meter once again topping her time of 25.22.

Senior Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) also set a school record after throwing the discus 40.75 meters. The senior topped her record of 39.61 meters she set in 2019.

Graduate student Kendra Noneman (Eagle, Idaho / Eagle) won the hammer throw with a mark of 59.28 meters.

The 4x100-meter relay team of junior Carmen Andrade (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico / Ramey), freshman Allison Silva (Marlborough, Mass. / Advanced Math and Science Academy), junior Serena Li (San Jose, Calif. / Lynbrook) and Giordani crossed in 42.76.

Andrade, sophomore Caitlin Kolb (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Vernon Hills), sophomore Emily Lannen (Reston, Va. / South Lakes) and graduate student Valerie Reiling (Concord, Mass. / Concord Carlisle Regional) ran the 4x400-meter in 4:20.38.

The Tartans will have a few athletes competing at the Bucknell Invitational on Friday and Saturday prior to the University Athletic Association Outdoor Championships on April 23-24 at Washington University in St. Louis.
