Tartans Finish Fifth at UAA Outdoor Championships, Barre Wins UAA High Jump Title

(ST. LOUIS, Mo.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team placed fifth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Championships on Sunday hosted by Washington University in St. Louis. The Tartans scored 62 points while WushU tabbed 286 points to win the UAA Championship.

Junior Liz Barre (Ithaca, N.Y. / Taft) cleared the bar at 1.63 meters to win the UAA title in the high jump. The junior also recorded a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles when she crossed in a personal-best time of 14.59.

Senior Taylor Jacobs (Bozeman, Mont./ The Taft School) placed fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:16.35 while junior Mona Yuan (Sayreville, N.J. / Middlesex County Academy for Allied Health and Biomedical Sciences) finished seventh in 2:18.17. Both times were personal bests.

The Tartans collected team points in the discus and triple jump. Graduate student Kendra Noneman (Eagle, Idaho / Eagle) placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 31.46 with freshman Jocelyn Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) also placing eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.51 meters.

The Tartans will compete at the Mountaineer Twilight and St. Francis (Pa.) Invitational on Saturday, April 30.
