Giordani Sets Two School Records at West Virginia University Last Chance

(MORGANTOWN, W.Va.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the West Virginia University Last Chance on Saturday.

Junior Samantha Giordani (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ambridge) bettered her two school records in the 200-meter and 100-meter dash. The junior won the 200-meter race with a time of 24.54 topping hr time of 24.74 and took second in the 100-meter crossing in 12.05. Her previous top time in the 100-meter was 12.15.

Senior Taylor Jacobs (Bozeman, Mont. / The Taft School) placed fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.76.

Freshman Jocelyn Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 10.59 meters. Junior Serena Li (San Jose, Calif. / Lynbrook) (long) took second in the long jump with a personal-best jump of 5.09 meters.

Freshman Taylor Symonette (Westport, Conn. / Staples) finished second in the shot put after tossing the element 11.38 meters while senior Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) took fifth in the discuss with a mark of 38.94 meters.

On Friday, graduate student Kendra Noneman (Eagle, Idaho / Eagle) competed at the Penn State University Jim Thorpe Invitational and placed second in the hammer with a throw of 53.07 meters.

Up next for the Tartans will be the Marty Goldberg Gator Invite hosted by Allegheny College on Thursday, May 12.
