Tartans Earn Three All-America Honors on Final Day of NCAA Outdoor Championships

(GENEVA, Ohio) – On the final day of the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team garnered three All-America honors. The three-day championships are being held at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

The first came by graduate student Kendra Noneman (Eagle, Idaho / Eagle) who placed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 56.49 meters.

Junior Samantha Giordani (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ambridge) then earned two All-America accolades. Her first came in the 100-meter dash where she placed eighth with a time of 11.88, topping her previous school record time of 11.90. An hour later, the junior placed sixth in the 200-meter dash crossing in 24.04.

Giordani becomes the third female athlete in program history to earn All-America status twice at the NCAA Championships. Jacqueline Guevel placed seventh in both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles in 2011 while Carolyn Lowe won the 10,000-meter run and placed second in the 5,000-meter run in 1992.

The Tartans placed 26th as a team with 12 points and earned three All-American honors at the championships.
