Barre and Giordani Repeat as Invitees to NCAA Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships
(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – Seniors Liz Barre and Samantha Giordani of the Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team have received an invite to compete at the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 10-11.
Barre qualified for the championships in the pentathlon and high jump. She will enter competition ranked ninth in the pentathlon with 3,388 points while ranking fourth in the high jump with a school record height of 1.71 meters. Last year, Barre finished seventh at the championships in the pentathlon earning All-America honors with a school record 3,399 points.
Giordani will compete in the 200-meter and 60-meter dash and will be ranked fifth and 18th, respectively, with two school record qualifying times of 24.78, converted to 24.59, and 7.69. Last year, Giordani finished 12th in the 200-meter dash at the championships.
They become the first two Tartan female athletes to compete in two events at the same indoor championship meet.
This year's championships will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
