Tartans Won Two Events to Open Winter Indoor Season at SPIRE Midwest Collegiate

(GENEVA, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University's women indoor track and field team competed at the SPIRE Midwest Collegiate Invitational at the SPIRE Institute on Saturday.

Top Track Events

  • Senior Liz Barre won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.91.
  • Senior Isabella Rhee and Senior Emily Lannen finished second and sixth in the 600-meter run with times of 1.39.63 and 1.42.72, respectively.
  • Sophomore Jacqueline Liu finished ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2.20.62.
  • Sophomore Orit Shiang won the 3000-meter run with a time of 10.14.58.
  • Rhee, Lannen, sophomore Zoe King, and Barre finished fifth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4.10.41.

Top Field Events

  • Barre finished third in the long jump, as she marked at 5.34 meters.
  • Junior Jocelyn Kiefel finished eighth in the triple jump, with a mark at 10.43 meters.

The Tartans will travel to Bucknell University for the Bucknell Open and Multi meet on Friday, January 26 at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 27 at 10:00 a.m. They will also attend the Muskie Meet at Muskingum University on Saturday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m.
