Tartans Defeat Adrian 3-0

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team opened its quad tournament with a 3-0 win over Adrian College, Friday, September 16. The Tartans won the first two sets by 25-19 scores before winning the third 25-22. Carnegie Mellon is now 6-5 on the season as Adrian drops to 1-8.

Sophomore Rachel Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron) led with 10 kills while sophomore Senna Parsa (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) tallied nine. Freshman Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) picked up another seven kills for the offense that totalled 32 kills on the night.

Sophomore Emily Wright (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) led with 21 assists and eight digs. Senior Emily Baddock (Houston, Texas/Dulles) picked up 12 digs while sophomore Ali Nichols (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) tallied nine.

Sophomore Oliva Mora (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) collected three service aces while Parsa and senior Maddie Rosnick (Fallsington, Pa./Pennsbury) each totalled three block assists.

The Tartans will continue action in the quad tournament on Saturday, September 17, at 11:00 a.m. against John Carroll University and against Westminster College at 5:00 p.m.
