Tartans Drop 3-1 Decision at #12 Juniata

(HUNTINGDON, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team traveled to Huntingdon, Pa., Saturday, October 22 to play the 12th-ranked Eagles of Juniata College.  The Tartans fell 3-1 by the scores of 25-13, 23-25, 25-20, and 25-14.  The loss evens the Tartans' record at 12-12 while the Eagles improve to 21-6.

Freshman Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) and sophomore Rachel Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron) recorded 11 and 10 kills, respectively, to lead the Cardinal and Gray.  Senior Maddie Rosnick (Fallingston, Pa./Pennsbury) tallied six kills while recording two service aces in the setback. Senior Kristin Castellano (New Canaan, Conn./Taft) and sophomore setter Emily Wright (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) also had two service aces on the afternoon.

Wright ended the match with 21 assists and freshman Taylor Bell (Shelby Twp., Mich./Detroit Country Day ) tallied 12.

Defensively, Miller led the way with 19 digs while sophomore Ali Nichols (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) collected 17. Rosnick recorded four total blocks and Bell had two.

The Tartans will be back in action on Wednesday, October 26, as the entertain Frostburg State at 7:00 p.m. on the hardwood of Skibo Gymnasium.
