(CLEVELAND, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team battled with New York University on Sunday, October 6 in University Athletic Association (UAA) first round robin action hosted by Case Western Reserve University. The Tartans (16-6, 1-2) dropped the contest 3-0 to the Violets who are now 18-2 and 2-1.
Leading the Tartans for the match was senior hitter Senna Parsa (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) with a .333 hitting percentage and 13 kills and sophomore Emily Lawlis (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands College Park) who dished out 25 assists.
Junior Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) and freshman Casey Salandra (Carol Steam, Ill./St. Francis) each had four block assists while senior Ali Nichols (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) had 12 digs with Parsa picking up 11 digs.
The Tartans will take a weekend off of action before returning to UAA play at Washington University in St. Louis where they will open a four-game weekend against Brandeis University.
