Volleyball Selected as Top Seed for ECAC Southwest Tournament

(DANBURY, Conn.) – After finishing fourth in the University Athletic Association Championship over the weekend, the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team with a record of 22-11, has been selected as the number one-seed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southwest Region Tournament.   The Tartans received a bye in the first round of the seven-team regional and will host the semifinals and finals on Saturday, November 15.  
    
In the first-round contests on Wednesday, November 12, No. 2 Geneva College (24-10) will host No. 7 Penn State Altoona (16-12), third seed Catholic University (22-13) will face No. 6 McDaniel College (18-11) at McDaniel and No. 4 Bethany College (25-13) will host No. 5 Penn State Behrend (19-12).

The first-round winners and Carnegie Mellon will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, November 15th hosted by Carnegie Mellon. The winner of Geneva/Penn State Altoona will face the winner of Catholic/McDaniel in one semifinal and the winner of Bethany/Penn State Behrend will take on Carnegie Mellon in the other semifinal. The semifinal winners will meet on Saturday, November 15 for the championship immediately following the consolation finals.

No. 1 Carnegie Mellon (22-11) Receives a Bye

No. 2 Geneva (24-10) vs No. 7 Penn State Altoona (16-12) at Geneva – 7:00 p.m.

No. 3 Catholic (22-13) at No. 6 McDaniel (18-11) at McDaniel – 7:00 p.m.

No. 4 Bethany (25-13) vs No. 5 Penn State Behrend (19-12) at Bethany – 7:00 p.m.

Semifinals – Saturday, November 15 at Carnegie Mellon

No. 2 Geneva/No. 7 PSU Altoona vs No. 3 Catholic/No. 6 McDaniel winner 10:00 a.m.

No. 1 Carnegie Mellon vs No. 4 Bethany/No. 5 PSU Behrend winner 12:00 p.m.

Consolation Finals – Saturday, November 15 at Carnegie Mellon

Two Semifinal Losers, 2:00 p.m.

Championship – Saturday, November 15 at Carnegie Mellon
