(CLEVELAND, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team, ranked 24th nationally, opened play at the 19th Annual Marcia French Memorial Invitational Friday, September 8 and defeating John Carroll University to remain unbeaten at 6-0 on the season. The Tartan won 3-0 by the scores of 25-17, 25-15, 25-22.
Three Tartans recorded double digit kills with junior Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) leading the way with 13 while hitting. 458. Senior Heather Holton (Haslett, Mich.) and junior Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown SIEM Academy) each added 10. Sophomore Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) tallied 26 assists in the win.
At the net, sophomore Sahara Aqui (Miramar, Fla./Archbishop McCarthy) tabbed four block assists with Mueller collecting two. Sophomore Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) had a team-high 21 digs and So-Holloway and Mueller added 12 and 13, respectively.
The Tartans return to the court on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against North Carolina Wesleyan College before playing Hiram College at 3:00 p.m.
