The 2018 Carnegie Mellon University volleyball program has been recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for its performance in the classroom by being named a recipient of the AVCA Team Academic Award. This marks the Cardinal and Gray's third straight season earning the award.

Anne Bock has been named the seventh head coach in Carnegie Mellon University Volleyball history. Bock, who has been an assistant coach for the Tartans for the past eight seasons, will assume head coaching duties on February 18. She takes over following the announcement of Kim Kelly’s retirement from coaching.

Senior opposite Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn.) and junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team were named to the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Volleyball Team, as announced by the ECAC late Wednesday afternoon. Of the seven members on this year’s ECAC team, the Tartans are the lone school with multiple honorees. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Tartans have had multiple athletes recognized by the ECAC and sixth straight season of having at least one honoree.

Five days after being named Mid-Atlantic Region American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Player of the Year, junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named Second Team All-America while senior opposite Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn.) landed a spot on the third team. Joining the two are senior outside hitter Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown SIEM Academy), junior middle blocker Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and junior libero Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) as All-America Honorable Mention honorees from the AVCA.

The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team played Ithaca College in the Regional Final of the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship on Sunday and dropped a 3-0 decision. The Tartans fell by the scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-23 on the Bombers home court.

The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team competed in the second round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship and came from behind to defeat Rochester Institute of Technology in a five-set thriller on Saturday. The three-day regional event is being played at Ithaca College. With the win, the Tartans advance to the regional final match for the first time in school history. Carnegie Mellon improves to 24-10 overall while RIT ends its season with a mark of 29-5.

Junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) was named to the first team while senior outside hitter Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown SIEM Academy), junior middle blocker Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and junior libero Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) were named to the second team. This marks the third straight year that at least four Tartans were named to the UAA squad.

The Tartans defeated Case Western Reserve University, 3-0, in the opening round before falling to No. 11 Emory University, 3-0, in the semifinals. The Tartans are now 22-9 for the year.

Carnegie Mellon University's volleyball team handed the 19th-ranked Bombers of Ithaca College a 3-1 setback on Friday night, as the Tartans celebrated the senior class prior to the contest. The home win for the Tartans improves their overall record to 20-8 while the Bombers are now 18-6. It marks the sixth straight season that the Cardinal and Gray have reached the 20-win plateau.

So-Holloway helped the Tartans to a 3-1 mark to improve the Cardinal and Gray’s overall record to 19-8. This marks her second honor by the UAA this season.
