(ADA, Ohio) – Carnegie Mellon University's volleyball team, ranked 12th nationally, opened its season at the Ohio Northern University Tournament Friday, August 31 and lost 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-18) to the host Polar Bears, who are ranked 19th.
Senior Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) led the Tartan attack with 13 kills while classmate Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown SIEM Academy) ended the night with nine. Junior Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) handed out 28 assists in the setback.
Defensively, junior Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) had 13 digs and Mueller added 12.
The Tartans return to the court on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against Defiance College before playing Thomas More College at 2:30 p.m.
