#24 Tartans Fall on Road to #3 Wittenberg

(HUNGTINGDON, Pa.) – The 24th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team traveled to Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, Friday, September 7 and faced third-ranked Wittenberg University. The Tigers pulled out a 3-0 victory against the Tartans after set scores of 25-18, 25-23, and 25-17.

The Tartans (2-3) were led offensively by senior Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) and junior Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif. / Sacred Heart Cathedral). Mueller put down 10 kills while So-Holloway distributed 25 assists. Senior Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn. / Eagan) and junior Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa. / Parkland) each had six kills for the Tartans.

Defensively, junior Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif. / Sacred Heart Cathedral) picked up 12 digs while senior Sydney Bauer (Allen, Texas / Allen) had nine digs. Both Foose and Jurgens had a block solo while junior Sahara Aqui (Miramar, Fla. / Archbishop McCarthy) and Mueller had two block assists.

The Tartans will next face Christopher Newport on Saturday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the Juniata Asics Invitational.
