Tartans Sweep Barons

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University's volleyball team hosted the Barons of Franciscan University Tuesday night on the hardwood of Skibo Gymnasium and swept the match winning all three sets by the score of 25-9. The win is the fifth straight for the Tartans and moves their recorded to 7-5 while Franciscan is now 1-13.

Carnegie Mellon recorded 24 service aces, as junior Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) recorded a career-best eight while senior Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown SIEM Academy) also tabbed a career-best with seven aces.

The offense was once again spread around with 13 different Tartans recording a kill. Leading the way with six was freshman Vivian Beaudoin (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) followed by four from classmate Liz Jankowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic). Sophomore Jordan Allen (Pearland, Texas/St. Thomas' Episcopal School) and freshman Erin Westberg (Cary, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) both chipped in with three apiece.

Senior Sydney Bauer (Allen, Texas/Allen) led the defense with nine digs.

The Tartans will host the DoubleTree Invitational on Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22 with their first match coming against Marietta College at 6:00 p.m. Friday.
