Foose and So-Holloway Earn UAA Weekly Honors

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Junior middle blocker Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team were named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week following their performance at the UAA round robin event over the weekend. The two helped the Tartans to a 3-0 mark over the weekend, including a 3-1 win over #7 Emory University, as well as assisting the Tartans to 12 straight match victories.

For the weekend, Foose hit .455 with 30 kills and recorded seven service aces. In the Tartans win over Emory, the junior posted a match-high 16 kills while hitting .519 and collecting two service aces. Against Rochester, a 3-0 win, Foose hit .714 with two aces. The junior opened UAA play with nine kills and three aces in the Tartans 3-1 win over NYU.

So-Holloway totaled 118 assists, 10.73 assists per set. The junior setter had a week-best 49 assists in the Tartans win over Emory while adding four service aces. So-Holloway started UAA play with a 38-assist effort in the Tartans 3-1 win over NYU.

The Tartans will be idle until returning to UAA play on Saturday, October 13 when they host the second round robin. The Tartans open play against eighth-ranked Washington University in St. Louis at 12:30 p.m.
