Tartans Top Brockport in Final Home Match

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team defeated the College of Brockport, 3-0, on Saturday in its final home match of the season. The Tartans are now 21-8 for the season while the Golden Eagles are 19-11.

The Tartans won by set scores of 25-19, 25-14, and 25-18 as the offense was stellar through the first two sets. The Tartans recorded hitting percentages of .306 and .393 with 16 and 12 kills, respectively in the first sets before using 10 errors by the Golden Eagles to go with nine kills in the third set.

Senior Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn. / Eagan) hit .280 with 11 kills while junior Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa. / Parkland) had six kills and zero errors for a hitting mark of .545. Senior Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) put down eight kills and picked up 10 digs. Junior Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif. / Sacred Heart Cathedral) had 14 digs, junior Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif. / Sacred Heart Cathedral) had 28 assists and senior Lizzy Thrasher (Rochester, N.Y. / Gates Chili) had four block assists.

The Tartans will next travel to the University of Rochester for the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship tournament with their first match to be played Friday, November 2 at 2:00 p.m. against Case Western Reserve University.
