Tartans Run in NCAA Tournament Ends in Regional Final

(ITHACA, N.Y.) - The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team played Ithaca College in the Regional Final of the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship on Sunday and dropped a 3-0 decision. The Tartans fell by the scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-23 on the Bombers home court.

Senior Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) led the Tartans with 11 kills and 10 digs to record her 19th double-double of the year and sixth straight. Junior Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa. / Parkland) ended the day with seven kills and freshman Carrie Stewart (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) collected six. Junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif. / Sacred Heart Cathedral) handed out 28 assists and recorded 10 digs. So-Holloway ended the season with 18 double-doubles.

Junior Sahara Aqui (Miramar, Fla. / Archbishop McCarthy) recorded three block assists and a block solo. Mueller, Foose and So-Holloway each had two block assists with Mueller and Foose each adding a block solo.

The Tartans conclude the season with an overall mark of 24-11, as Ithaca moves on with a 21-7 mark.
