Foose Earns UAA Weekly Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa. / Parkland) of the Carne-gie Mellon University volleyball team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week following her performance last week. Foose helped the undefeated Tartans to a 4-0 mark including wins over 15th-ranked Ithaca College and third-ranked Juniata College on her way to being named the Most Valuable Player at the ASICS Invitational hosted by Juniata.

Foose totaled 33 kills and hit .484 for the week. The senior also recorded eight service aces and 19 total blocks in the four matches. In the opening match of the ASICS Invitational, Foose rec-orded a week-best 10 kills and hit .588. In the win over Ithaca, she hit .467 with eight kills and recorded a career-best five service aces to go with a career-best seven block assists and two block solos. In the nightcap win over Juniata Saturday, Foose hit .421 with nine kills and had another big game at the net with four block assists.

The Tartans will next play at home in the DoubleTree Invitational on Friday, September 13 at 4:00 p.m. against Susquehanna University.
