#12 Tartans Upended by #2 Emory

(WALTHAM, Mass.) - The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team, ranked 12th nationally, completed play on Sunday afternoon at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #1 hosted by Brandeis University. The Tartans dropped a 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-22) contest to second ranked Emory University and are now 13-2 overall and 2-1 in UAA play while Emory moves to 11-1, 3-0.

Sophomores Vivian Beaudoin (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills) and Carrie Stewart (Victor, N.Y./Victor) led the Tartans attack with 10 and eight kills, respectively, while senior Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) ended with six kills. Senior Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) handed out 17 assists in the setback.

Senior Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) recorded 16 digs and So-Holloway had nine. Senior Sahara Aqui (Miramar, Fla./Archbishop McCarthy), Foose and Beaudoin each had two block assists.

The Tartans will continue play on Saturday, September 20 with a pair of matches at Otterbein University. The will play the host at 2:00 p.m. followed by a 4:30 p.m. match against the University of Mount Union.
