#19 Tartans Place Fourth UAA Championship

(CHICAGO, Ill.) - The 19th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team competed in the third-place match of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Saturday and fell 3-1 (25-19, 25-20, 17-25, 25-22) to Washington University in St. Louis. The 2019 Championship was held at the University of Chicago.

Sophomore Anna Cao (Princeton, N.J. / Princeton) led the Tartans with a career-best 12 kills while junior Diana Balta (Media, Pa. / Penncrest) added 11 in the setback. Senior Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa. / Parkland) ended with 10.

Senior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif. / Sacred Heart Cathedral) and freshman setter Stella Yan (Coppell, Texas / Coppell) combined for 36 assists with So-Holloway recording 26. Yan along with Balta each had three service aces.

Defensively, senior Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif. / Sacred Heart Cathedral) collected 24 digs and now has 2,304 for her career. Yew needs 53 to be the school's all-time leader. At the net, Foose recorded two block solos and two block assists to lead the Tartans.

Carnegie Mellon ends its regular season with an overall mark of 22-7 while the Bears finish at 24-8. The Tartans will wait to see if they receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament on Monday, November 11.
