(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team opened the University Athletic Association (UAA) championship with a come from behind 3-2 victory over the University of Chicago to advance to the semifinal match. In the semifinals, the Tartans face ninth ranked Washington University in St. Louis and dropped a five-set match to the Bears. The championships are being played at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and are being hosted by NYU. The Tartans are now 20-7 overall and will play in the third-place match on Saturday.

- With the Tartans trailing 22-17 in the fourth set, the Cardinal and Gray used an 8-1 run to force a fifth set, as Junior Jane Dean put down the final point.
- In the fifth set, the Tartans won 17-15 to advance to the semifinals.

- Freshman Elizabeth Schlemmer finished with nine kills while classmate Katherine Jackson had eight.

- Schlemmer led the offense for the Tartans with 13 kills. Freshman Isabella Sierra ended with a season-best eight kills while Dean tabbed seven.
- Yan handed out 31 assists.
- The Cardinal and Gray now have nine matches with double-digit service aces this season after recording 11. Yan and Chen led with each having three.
- Yan led four Tartans in double-digit digs with 16. Reichard had 15, Chen 13 and Schlemmer 11.
