From Acting to Chemical Engineering, Carnegie Mellon Was Always the Place for Sandy Payne ‘90

When Sandy Payne was in second grade, she decided she was going to attend Carnegie Mellon. An aspiring actress, the 7-year-old knew that Carnegie Mellon had one of the nation’s finest drama programs, and she figured the Oakland campus was going to be the beginning of her journey to stardom.
Women's Cross Country Earns Team Academic Honor from USTFCCCA

Former Cross Country Standout Rebecca Buchheit Clayton Made Most of Academic, Athletic Opportunities

Rebecca Buchheit Clayton (CIT ’97, ’98, ’02) added another accomplishment to her impressive resume earlier this month, as the former distance standout was named to Carnegie Mellon’s All-University Athletic Association (UAA) 25th Anniversary Women’s Cross Country Team. Clayton earned bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in civil engineering from Carnegie Mellon.
Hands-On Experience Teaches Humphrey About Engineering Service

Junior Eva Humphrey learned a lot through her trip to India with Engineers Without Borders this past summer and is looking forward to continuing to travel the world. Humphrey is a member of the women’s cross country and track and field teams at Carnegie Mellon University and is in competition throughout the school year, leaving little time for traveling.

Junior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team ran at the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships, Saturday, November 19 held at the at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wisconsin hosted by the University Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The junior earned All-America honors after finishing 16th.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team finished eighth at the 2011 Mideast Regional on Saturday, November 12, at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa. Junior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) crossed the line third overall to punch her place in the 2011 Division III NCAA Championships on Saturday, November 19, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Junior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) led the Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Saturday, October 29. The University of Chicago served as the host at Montrose Harbor where Washington University in St. Louis won the event.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team traveled to State College, Pa., on Friday, October 14, to compete in the Penn State Invitational as a tune-up for the University Athletic Association Championships at the end of October. The Tartans finished 24th overall amongst all Division I and Division II schools.

The Tartans women's cross country team finished fifth overall as Division II Ashland University took first place.
Wobb Wins 6K at Dickinson

Carnegie Mellon University junior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) won her first race of the year at the Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational on Saturday, September 24. Wobb won the 6k race as the Tartans finished sixth. The team finished 14th in the 4k race with only three runners as Dickinson won both races.
Carnegie Mellon Finishes Fourth at Mack Cooper Invitational

The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team traveled to Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, for the Mack Cooper Invitational at Cooper's Lake Campground Friday night. The team finished fourth out of six teams and were the only Division III team competing.
