Tartans Finish Fourth in Annual Invite as Snyder Places Second

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team raced to a fourth-place finish at the annual Carnegie Mellon Invitiational and was led by junior Liz Snyder (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) who placed second individually in a field of 193 women. 

With a time of 18:32.50, Snyder crossed the finish line just six seconds behind first place and more than 10 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher. 

Also finishing in the top 10, and second for the Tartans, senior Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) had a final time of 19:06.10 for seventh place individually.

Also aiding in the Tartans' fourth place finish were juniors Haley Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) with a time of 19:34.80, junior Erin Persson (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) finishing at 19:37.90, and Zofia Tillman with a time of 19:43.80.

Following Tillman was seniors Sara Kelly (Madison, Wis./West) and Hailey Brown (Wellsville, N.Y./Wellsville) in 19:45.3 and 19:45.4.

The women's cross country team will compete next Saturday, October 18 in the Inter-Regional Rumble at Oberlin College.
