Tartans Place Fifth at UAA Championships

(ST. LOUIS, Mo.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team placed fifth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 1 at Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri. Junior Liz Snyder (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) and senior Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) both earned All-UAA Second Team at the race.

Snyder led the Tartans for the fifth time this season, as she finished the 6k course eighth overall in 22:13.04. Kiekhaefer wasn't far behind when she finished 13th overall in 22:36.61.

Junior Zofia Tillman (Westminster, Colo./Standley Lake) finished the race in 23:19.68 for 33rd place while senior Halley Bayer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was 36th in 23:25.65.

Right behind Bayer was junior Haley Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) in 23:26.54 for 38th place. Senior Hailey Brown (Wellsville, N.Y./Wellsville) then crossed the line in 23:32.39 for 42nd place.

Junior Taylor Maggiacomo (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) finished seventh for the Tartans in 23:59.45 for 51st place while junior Priya Patel (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) was eighth for the team and 60th overall in 24:24.11.

The Tartans will next compete at the NCAA Regionals on Saturday, November 15 at 12:00 p.m. The race will be hosted by Dickinson College at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania.
