Persson Leads Tartans at Mideast Regional

(CARLISE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team finished seventh at the NCAA Mideast Regional on Saturday, November 14 with 230 points. John Hopkins claimed the title with 33 points followed by Dickinson with 100 points and Haverford with 116.

The Tartans battled the wind on the 6k course at Big Spring High School with senior Erin Persson (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) leading the way. The senior ended her career with a 26th place finish in 22:56.2.

Sophomore Aparna Alavilli (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) finished in 37th place with a time of 23:10.8.  Senior Taylor Maggiacomo (Tennecula, Calif./Great Oak) joined Alavilli in the top 50. The senior took 44th place with a time of 23:21.5.

 Sophomore Rhiannon Farney (Winston Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) and senior Rekha Schnepf (McLean, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Sci. & Tech) rounded out the scoring for the Tartans. Farney finished in 59th place in 23:37.0 and Schnepf placed 64th in 23:40.8.

Senior Kira Ragazzo (Frederick, Md. / Urbana) and senior Haley Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo./ Palmer) also ran for the Tartans. Ragazzo finished in 66th place in 23:45.2 and Bryant placed 70th in 23:49.6.
