Bid Received! Tartans Return to NCAA Championship Race

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team received an at-large invitation to the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships marking the second straight season the Tartans will race as a team for the championship. This year's race will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin on Saturday, November 17. The team appearance marks the fifth in program history.

Carnegie Mellon received the invite after placing third at the Mideast Regional on Saturday, November 10. At the meet, junior Kate Reilly (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep), sophomore Parvathi Meyyappan (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) and junior Abigail Levine (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda Chevy Chase) all finished in the top 15 and garnered all-region honors.

"Going into the Regional meet we were very confident that a top-three finish would earn us an NCAA invitation," said fourth-year head coach Tim Connelly. "Our women raced with that confidence on Saturday.  It was definitely our best race of the season. Despite lots of cold, wind, and very wet course conditions, our group came out of the meet healthy and ready to run even better next Saturday in Wisconsin. Last year's NCAA experience has given them a lot of confidence in their ability to perform well at the Championships."

The women's race will begin at 12:15 p.m. ET, followed by the men's race at 1:15 p.m. ET.
