Tartans Place Fourth at UAA Championships

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team hosted the 2019 University Athletic Association (UAA) Cross Country Championships on its home course in Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Saturday afternoon and finished fourth on the 6k course. Washington University in St. Louis won the race with 24 points.

Senior Abigail Levine (Bethesda, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) led the Tartans for the second straight race. The senior finished with a time of 22:32.28 to place 12th overall and earn All-UAA Second Team honors.

Freshman Joyce Zhang (Ellicott City, Md. / Centennial High School) was the second Tartan to cross the line with a time of 22:54.19 and placed 23rd. Seniors Kate Reilly (Scranton, Pa. / Scranton Prep) and Valerie Collins (Wellesley, Mass. / Wellesley) placed 31st and 32nd overall with times of 23:11.17 and 23:11.63.

Sophomore Kristen Seballos (Cleveland, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) was the fifth Tartan to cross with a time of 23:12.99 to place 34th. The Tartans sixth and seventh runners to cross were sophomore Taylor Jacobs (Bozeman, Mont. / The Taft School) and graduate student Wade Lacey (Albany, N.Y. / The Albany Academies). Jacobs crossed in 23:17.93 while Lacy finished in 23:25.93.

The Tartans will next race in the NCAA Mideast Regional at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, November 16.
