Bio

Adam Colorito joined the Carnegie Mellon University cross country staff as an assistant coach in 2015.

In eight years with the program, Colorito has helped mentor 22 women to all-region status while one athlete competed at the 2016 NCAA Championships and the team earned five straight at-large bids to the NCAA meet, including its first NCAA bid in 20 years in 2017. The 2017 Tartans exceeded expectations at the national meet, placing 24th ahead of Emory University and three Mideast Region opponents. The women also finished fourth at the Mideast Regional and fourth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, both team bests since 2012 at the time.

In 2018, the Tartans had three runners qualify for the NCAA Championships before the team learned its third-place finish at the Mideast Regional earned them a trip back to the national stage.

The 2019 team continued a string of success for the program with its second straight third-place finish at the Mideast Regional with four all-region performances. The regional finish earned the team another trip to the NCAA Championships where they finished 24th.

The 2021 squad had a fantastic year, tying the program's highest finish at a UAA Championship by placing third at the course in Rochester, New York. They continued to reach goals by finishing third at the Mid-Atlantic Regional and earned the program's fourth straight bid to the national championship. At the NCAA meet, the Tartans placed 18th, a program best since the 1998 team placed fourth.

In 2022, the Tartans earned a second-place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional and returned to the NCAA Championship for the fifth straight year.

A graduate of Slippery Rock University in 2010, Colorito was part of two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship teams. After graduation, Colorito spent time as the boy's and girl's cross country assistant coach at Aurora High School in Aurora, Ohio.

Colorito went on to earn his master's degree in Physiology and Human Performance from the Center of Excellence for Sport Science and Coach Education at East Tennessee State University in 2012. While enrolled at East Tennessee State, Colorito was a volunteer assistant coach for the cross country and track and field programs where he assisted in recruiting, coached the middle and long distance runners and developed a strength and conditioning program.

Colorito also served as an assistant coach for Milligan College for two-and-a-half years before being hired as the assistant coach at Georgia Southern University in July 2013.

His last stop before joining the Tartans was at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he was the first assistant for both cross country and track and field programs.

In addition to his academic degrees, Colorito is a level one USA Track and Field Coach and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He also works for UPMC Sports Medicine as a rehabilitation aide for physical therapy.
