Bio

Ben Swogger joins the Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics as a part-time assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2016.

Swogger received his undergraduate degree in health and physical activity from the University of Pittsburgh. He is no stranger to Carnegie Mellon and its athletes, as he was an intern under head strength and conditioning coach Alan DeGennaro during the 2015-16 school year.

Swogger is currently working on a research project with Carnegie Mellon University and is a co-investigator on a study which is examing the relationship between isometric muscle testing and injury incidence in freshman athletes. He is working on this project with members of the Carnegie Mellon athletic trainging staff, team physician Dr. Anderson and CMU professor Conrad Zapanta from the biomedical engineering department.

He is a certified personal trainer and bodypump instructor and will be teaching two weight training courses for physical education, in addition to his responsibilities with CMU athletes. Swogger will primarily be working with volleyball, swimming and diving, tennis and golf during his time at Carnegie Mellon and is a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
