The Carnegie Mellon University Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) has recently announced the new executive board members that will serve in 2021.

Sophomore Helena Spencer of the women’s soccer team will serve as the 2021 president. Junior Dani Castleberg of the women’s swimming and diving team was named vice president. Sophomore Matt Wagner of the men’s swimming and diving team was named secretary. Junior Liz Jankowski of women’s volleyball was named Community Outreach Chair. Sophomore Divya Seenivasan of women’s basketball was named Public Relations Chair and junior Taylor Jacobs of women’s cross country and track and field was named Events Chair.

Much like the athletes that form the Tartan rosters, the board members hail from different states from the west coast, midwest, and east coast, and bring different backgrounds to their leadership positions.

“The focus for the spring 2021 semester is to successfully transition SAAC into the virtual setting while maintaining the fun and engaging atmosphere,” Spencer said. “This would include having virtual activities, increasing participation during meetings, and continuing to give back to our CMU and Pittsburgh communities. I am beyond excited to take on the role of president and I cannot wait to see the accomplishments our SAAC body brings.”

The Carnegie Mellon Student-Athlete Advisory Council is made up of student-athletes who voice perspectives from their respective teams in order to improve the student-athlete experience. The organization offers valuable insights on rules, regulations, and further serves to improve the CMU and greater Pittsburgh communities.
