TAC Leadership Spotlight Series: Maria Russell

Tartan Leaders of Tomorrow had its second Tartan Athletics Club Board of Directors Leadership Spotlight Series of the semester on February 4 with Maria Russell, a 1996 alumna of the women’s soccer team. Russell graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social and decision sciences with a minor in industrial management from Carnegie Mellon University while also serving as a University Ambassador, hosting VIP guests for the President’s office.
TAC Leadership Spotlight Series: Joanna Downer

Tartan Leaders of Tomorrow had its first Tartan Athletics Club Board of Directors Leadership Spotlight Series of the semester on January 28 with Joanna Downer, a 1993 alumna of the volleyball team. Downer graduated with a degree in chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University before earning a Master of Arts and Ph.D. in nuclear chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis. She is currently an Associate Dean for Research Development at the Duke University School of Medicine.
Tartans Rebrand Student-Athlete Leadership Development Program

The Carnegie Mellon University student-athlete leadership development program has been rebranded to Tartan Leaders of Tomorrow, with the goal of better serving the individual needs of CMU student-athletes and increasing program recognition among student-athletes, alumni and the community.
Student-Athlete Alumni Mentoring Program: Networking Forged Professional Path

Senior cross country and track & field runner Aadi Mhatre signed up for the Student-Athlete Mentoring Program at its inception in 2016 not knowing the tremendous impact it would have on his professional career and education in just his first year at Carnegie Mellon University. Three years later, the senior reflects on his mentor, Dr. Baris Polat’s, lasting impression on his current career goals.
