A few minutes later, the Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer team found out that it had made school history with its first-ever invite to the national tournament.

Sophomore men’s swimmer Anton Razanav has made a big impact at Carnegie Mellon. A member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, Razanav was crowned the University Athletic Association champion in the 200-yard backstroke last year before earning All-America Honorable Mention distinction as part of the 400-yard medley relay team that competed at the NCAA Championships. Even though Jasen and his brother Jared are a year apart, the Raleigh, North Carolina native decided to apply for an internship to be a part of the Democratic National Committee during the summer of 2012, the same position his older brother held during the spring.

Junior women’s soccer player Brittany Couture returns to Carnegie Mellon for her third season on the pitch after spending her time away from Pittsburgh traveling and gaining experience in the biomedical engineering field. The Santa Barbara, California native spent the beginning of the summer in Thailand before returning to her home city for a second stint of work at Owl Biomedical.
