(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics has hired Hunter Poust as the assistant coordinator of recreation.

Poust comes to Carnegie Mellon after graduating from Slippery Rock University in May. Poust earned his Bachelor of Science degree in sport management and served as a marketing and athletic department intern at Bucknell University during his last semester. While in his intern role, Poust worked with the promotions team to implement contests and prize giveaways featuring students and community members during home varsity basketball, baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse games.

During his 2021 summer break, Poust was a game day intern for the Williamsport Crosscutters. Poust also served as an intern at Eastern Lycoming YMCA where he helped maintain the facilities, answered patron’s questions and planned events for the daycare.

"We're excited to have Hunter join our recreation staff," said associate director of athletics for recreational programming Sara Gauntner. "Hunter will bring great leadership to our student workers and his presence in our facilities will provide professional staffing during our busy evenings."

As a student at Slippery Rock, Poust was part of the wrestling club for three years where he held the role of secretary and also volunteered with the Western PA Special Olympics.
