(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University football team will continue its brief two-game home stand on Saturday, October 4 when it entertains the Titans of Westminster College. Carnegie Mellon is coming off a 22-21 victory over Geneva College this past Saturday.  The win ended the Tartans' seven game skid dating back to last season.

When the two collide on the gridiron Saturday, it will mark the 34th meeting, as the Titans hold the series lead, 17-15-1.  Last season Westminster defeated the Tartans 27-24 in New Wilmington.  It marked the first meeting since 2006.  Prior to 2006, it had been 35 years since the schools collided on the gridiron. The first meeting saw Westminster win 12-0 in 1907. In the 33 meetings, there have been 18 shutouts with the Tartans holding the edge 11-7.

Carnegie Mellon, who is 1-2 overall and has an identical record in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play, will look to win its second straight contest when the teams kickoff at 1:00 p.m. Saturday on the turf at Gesling Stadium. Westminster enters the contest looking for its first win in 2014 as the Titans have dropped their first four games.
