Carnegie Mellon Football Grad Nick Zitelli Named to the 20-Year All-Tazón Team

(GRANBURY, Texas) – Carnegie Mellon University 2001 graduate Nick Zitelli (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) has been named to the 20-Year All-Tazón Team. The All-Tazón Team was selected by a panel of veterans of the Tazón De Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) and its Global Football-organized predecessor The Aztec Bowl, from games played between 1997 and 2016.

Zitelli, a linebacker for the Tartans, was named the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Most Valuable Player of the 2000 Aztec Bowl after leading the USA team to a 27-26 win over Mexico in Merida, Mexico. Zitelli recovered a blocked punt for a first quarter touchdown and later recorded an interception.

His senior season, Zitelli led the Cardinal and Gray with 79 tackles while only playing eight of ten games. He also led the 2000 team with nine tackles for loss and five sacks on his way to being named the school's third AFCA All-American.
