Kohman Garners Another All-America Honor

(NEW YORK, N.Y.) – Senior punter Tyler Kohman (Pataskala, Ohio/Columbus Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team received his second All-America honor within a week's time when The Associated Press (AP) announced its 2017 Little All-America Division III football team Thursday afternoon. After many years in which the AP Little All-America team selected the best "small college" players in the country that included players from Division II, III and NAIA, this season marked the first of a sole Division III team.

Kohman becomes the third Tartan to receive AP Little All-America recognition. Teammate Sam Benger received the honor in 2015 and linebacker Nick Zitelli was honored in 2000.

On Tuesday, Kohman was named All-America by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). The senior also was recently named to the D3football.com All-South Region First Team and to the Division III All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) team.

Kohman, the University Athletic Association (UAA) Special Teams Player of the Year and Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) First Team member, ended his senior campaign as the top punter in the PAC and UAA with an average of 45.7 yards per punt, which ranked second nationally and set the program's single-season record. Kohman had 16 punts of 50 yards or more including a career-best 62-yarder. Kohman placed 21 of his 45 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line.

Kohman will leave Carnegie Mellon as the program's leader in punts and yards per punt for a career. He recorded 209 punts in his four years for an average of 41.2 yards per punt.
