Nguyen Named to D3football.com Team of the Week; Receives PAC Weekly Special Teams Honors

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomore placekicker Brandon Nguyen (Maitland, Fla./Lake Highland Preparatory) was recognized nationally on the D3football.com Team of the Week and also was named Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Special Teams Athlete of the Week following his play Saturday in the Tartans' 20-14 win over Westminster College.

Nguyen totaled eight points in the Tartans win over the Titans. He broke a 14-14 score with a 38-yard field goal midway through the third quarter. Nguyen then added a 41-yard field goal with 7:39 remaining in the game to extend the Tartans' lead to 20-14. He converted both of his extra point tries in the first quarter. He has now converted nine of 10 field goals this season.

His 90-percent field goal percentage leads the PAC and ranks sixth best in Division III this season, while his nine made field goals are tied for the most in the league and 17th nationally.

Carnegie Mellon will conclude its regular season on Saturday, November 16. The Tartans will entertain Case Western Reserve University in the 34th Annual Academic Bowl at Gesling Stadium. Kick is set for 2:00 p.m.
